Have your say - Review of the implementation of the National Local Authority Enforcement Code (the Code)

HSE is seeking views from individual local authorities, businesses and those organisations that represent employers or employees (eg Trade Associations, Trade Unions etc.) to test perceptions on the implementation of 'the Code'. The Triennial Review of HSE also considered the variability in enforcement approaches between LAs and recommended the Code be reviewed in light of experience to identify areas for change and amendment.

Published in May 2013 following formal public consultation, the Code sets out the Government's expectations on a risk based approach to targeting health & safety regulatory interventions, providing a principles-based framework that recognises the respective roles of business and the regulator in the management of risk.

To access the Code and all associated documents these are available online.

Alongside responses to the questionnaire, HSE will consider results from analysis of the 2013/14 LA activity data. HSE collects and publishes LA activity and enforcement data annually, these are available online.
