HSE has produced this package to help staff in local planning authorities to use PADHI+ (Planning Advice for Developments near Hazardous Installations) to consult HSE for advice on proposed developments near to major hazard sites and major accident hazard pipelines. It provides information on HSE's role in providing land use planning advice, along with a number of videos showing how to use PADHI+ to obtain HSE’s advice on a variety of developments involving different scenarios.
Although aimed primarily at staff in planning authorities, this package should be of interest to other land use planning stakeholders, such as landowners and developers, who do not have access to PADHI+ themselves, providing an understanding of how HSE’s advice on developments around major hazards is determined.
Planning authority staff can access PADHI+ via the HSE Extranet website, through which individuals and organisations involved in regulating health and safety in the UK can share information.
A number of videos are available showing how to use PADHI+ to consult HSE for advice on a variety of developments involving different scenarios.
