HSE signs the Healthcare Commission Concordat

HSE is one of a number of signatories to the Healthcare Commission Concordat "Concordat Between Bodies Inspecting, Regulating & Auditing Healthcare". The Concordat aims to help reduce the regulatory burden put on frontline healthcare staff while continuing to support the improvement of services for patients.

Sandra Caldwell, HSE’s Director of Field Operations said:

"The healthcare industry is of vital importance to every citizen& HSE are determined to support service delivery by preventing accidents and reducing occupational sickness absence. We can only achieve this in partnership with all the other key bodies, concentrating on sensible health & safety improvements and avoiding disjointed initiatives. This Concordat is an important step in the right direction

Murray Devine, HSE’s Programme Manager for Healthcare said:

"HSE's national programme for health services has concentrated on the health & safety risks that result in the greatest harm and the longest absences. This risk-based approach, integrated with other aspects of management and performance improvement, can make a real difference to healthcare delivery. The Concordat is a welcome opportunity to work in a more coordinated fashion with the signatory bodies under the leadership of the Healthcare Commission. The next 12 months will be a demanding period for all of us in turning this opportunity into demonstratable improvements."
