Government setting an example
Various parts of HSE are all working on the GSE Programme.
The Programme Manager is based in HSE policy group and has a small team which provides support for the programme. The team plays a leading role both in providing support for the Ministerial Taskforce, as well as working on the projects involving the targeted departments. They also work on promoting examples of excellence to central government departments.
The Public Services Sector team works with the Programme Manager to provide support, advice and guidance at a national level to HSE Inspectors and policy directorates on various aspects of the GSE Programme. Core activities also include working with key stakeholders, trade associations, trade unions and committees to improve health and safety across the various public sector bodies.
Field Operations Directorate (FOD) Inspectors are responsible for undertaking a range of frontline interventions to reduce risks and protect people at work, by providing advice and guidance on how to comply with the law, inspecting workplaces, investigating accidents and complaints, and taking enforcement action where necessary.
