The UK Information Commissioner is the independent authority responsible for administering and enforcing the Act, including approval of publication schemes. The ICO also has responsibility for the Data Protection Act (DPA) which gives you the right to know what information is held about you, and sets out rules to make sure that this information is handled properly.
