OC 1/8 Appendix 4, procedures on receipt of complaint

(Paras 32(2) and 43(3))

1. Where a complaint is received it should be acknowledged and the following action taken unless there are specific directorate procedures, e.g. FOD Complaints Handling System quality procedure.

  1. in apparently routine cases, a copy of the specimen letter at Appendix 2 is sent to the employer, together with a copy of the leaflet Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 - a Guide for Employers (HSE 40) [PDF 284KB]. Closed text starts hereClosed text ends here3
  2. if a current certificate, or copy, is received, this should be acknowledged (and returned if it is the original certificate), and the employer's attention should be drawn to the duty to display it under s.4(2)(a);
