Instructions for matrices

  1. Gather the relevant management performance evidence, through the accepted protocols of evidence and discussion. Bear in mind the majority of businesses will not have features that directly relate to HSG65/POPMAR or other safety management systems. Therefore accept the terms used by dutyholders may well be significantly different from regulators terminology.
  2.  A feature of the Micro matrix is that terminology/language moves away from the jargon of health and safety in order to offer the dutyholder the opportunity to more quickly relate to what inspectors are trying to discuss/explain/achieve and understand. It should provide a quicker means of building a dialogue. It should also have the effect of putting into context the regulators’ pitch for sensible health and safety.
  3. Identify the performance characteristics and match to the descriptors for each element (headings in left hand columns). Enter score 1-6 in right hand column, add the column, and then divide by relevant factor, round up/down, this is then the Competence and Attitude of Management Score.
