Minor Roof Work

They are just replacing a couple of tiles but there's nothing to stop this worker falling off or through the roof.

Top Tips for minor roof work:

  • Plan ahead. Know what the job involves, if it will take more than a few minutes, needs more than two people or involves heavy loads a higher standard of protection is needed, e.g. suitable scaffolding. Don't do it, call in the experts.
  • If there is no fixed access or guardrails, use other equipment to access and work on the roof safely, e.g. cherry pickers, tower scaffolds and crawling boards.
  • Check the roof is strong enough to support any weight you put on it.
  • Don't let anything fall off the roof and injure someone. Use a toolbelt and if necessary make sure no one comes into the area below the work.
