Top Tips for gutter cleaning:
- Use appropriate equipment. You could use equipment that will allow you to do the job from the ground.
- If you need to work at height use the right equipment for the job.
- If you use a ladder make sure it is long enough and look at using a stand-off device so that it does not rest on the gutter.
- Observe ladder safety. Do you need to tie the ladder at the top and bottom? Take breaks at least every 30 minutes and maintain three points of contact on the ladder where possible.
- Know what you are doing. Get trained and only work with trained people. If you hire access equipment, know how to use it.
- Don't be a thrower. Bag debris into small loads that can be lowered safely to the ground.
