British Safety Council Conference

The British Safety Council is holding a half-day conference to address the challenges faced by the NHS and local authorities. A number of speakers will be sharing their views on what needs to be done to reduce ill health and injury in these sectors and to address major issues such as board leadership and worker involvement.
Conference overview
The agenda includes a keynote address by HSE’s Chair, Judith Hackitt, on taking forward the Strategy, as well as talks about:
- the progress in building stakeholder support for the Strategy;
- the health, safety and wellbeing challenges facing local government;
- executive and non-executive responsibilities for health and safety and the legal implications of corporate manslaughter law;
- how to involve, engage and secure the commitment of workforces;
- the role of the health and safety practitioner in the NHS and the challenges;
- employee wellbeing programmes and their contribution to managing stress; and
- the health and wellbeing of the NHS workforce.
