Slips and trips prosecution in a food company

A worker fractured their ankle in a food factory when water vapour froze inside and on the outside edge of a freezer. Seals on the door did not shut fully or seal and the floor was uneven and worn. The company had ignored previous employees' pleas and Health and Safety Inspectors recommendations to improve working conditions.

Outcome:

The company was successfully prosecuted and fined £7,500.
