Dft Public Register of Enforcement Notices - DfT CDG class 7 Notices
This register contains details of improvement and prohibition notices issued by Dangerous Goods Division Inspectors in relation to the transport of Class 7 (radioactive) material in GB since 1 July 2007.
Notices will appear for a period of 5 years. Notices served on individuals under the age of 18 will be removed sooner.
DfT has taken steps to ensure that notices which are withdrawn or are subject to appeal are not included. To account for the appeals process and quality assurance, we allow 6 weeks to elapse after a notice is issued before adding it to this register.
DfT's Dangerous Goods Division enforces the regulations covering the transport of radioactive materials by road, and also acts as Competent Authority for the transport of radioactive material on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport.
DfT Inspectors enforce health and safety standards by giving advice on how to comply with the law. Sometimes we must order people to make improvements by issuing them with a notice – either an Improvement Notice which allows time for the recipient to comply, or a Prohibition Notice which prohibits an activity until remedial action has been taken.
If necessary, DfT may prosecute recipients for non-compliance with a notice. DGD Inspectors follow HSE's Enforcement Policy and Enforcement Management Model when deciding upon the most appropriate action to take.
