Economists in the HSE

Economists in the HSE are based in the HSE’s Analytical Services Division, alongside statisticians and social researchers. Analysts in the Division work closely with policy and programme teams in the HSE to help determine the appropriate type and level of intervention in HSE’s key delivery programmes that aim to reduce injury and ill health and prevent catastrophic incidents at major hazard sites.

The primary role of HSE economists is to support the HSE’s delivery programmes by providing economic analysis, information and advice, and by strengthening the evidence base in key policy areas. Key responsibilities include:
