Enforcing authorities at dock premises
Below is an outline of the activities dealt with by the different enforcement bodies that visit docks:
- Stevedores and other shore based activities on dock premies.
- Work activities aboard ship by works crew, marine/maritime safety and ship/navigational safety.
- Accidents to crew and to ships at sea.
- Work activities in warehouses, shops, catering facilities and offices not on dock premises; leisure activities on or adjacent to inland navigations; complaints regarding nuisance).
- Activities affecting the environment.
- Railways on dock premises.
- Road accidents and carriage of dangerous goods by road.
- Import/export controls, excise duty.
- The UK Border Agency is responsible for securing the United Kingdom borders and controlling migration in the United Kingdom.
