HSE has developed a health and safety performance indicator for use by small and medium-sized enterprises. It is intended to help SMEs measure their health and safety performance and benchmark against others. Use of the indicator is free and anonymous. The indicator can be found on the Businesslink website.
The indicator was developed in close liaison with insurers. For SMEs that are good at health and safety, it should therefore provide a means of showing brokers and insurers how they are performing. This may help insurers to take their performance into account when determining terms for insurance, particularly ELCI.
