The Small Business Service (SBS) is consulting on the feasibility of common commencement dates for the introduction of new national and sectoral domestic regulations. This would follow the pattern that now exists in a pilot exercise for domestic employment law, which is currently only introduced twice a year on 6 April and 1 October. The proposals are designed to help employers deal with regulations by raising awareness of the start dates for new rules. The consultation can be accessed at the SBS website and is open until 3 September 2004. The SBS is seeking the views of businesses (of all sizes) advisers, business organisations, trade associations and any other interested bodies.
