Consultation ended 26 July 2000
Introduction
The Consultative Document (CD) seeks your views on proposals
from the Health and Safety Commission (the Commission) for
changes to The Use of Electricity in Mines Approved Code of
Practice (ACoP) to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. A
copy of the ACoP is at appendix B. The amended text is
highlighted, with the changes in bold print. The reasons for the
changes are listed in appendix A
In addition the Commission seeks your views on appendix C,
which outlines the Model Manager's Rules that have been drawn
up for the use of 3,300 volts at the coalface of a coalmine (the
revision to ACoP 21(b) refers), and which will be included in the
ACoP as guidance. These rules cover conditions as to use,
environmental monitoring, protection and high voltage insulation
testing.
The Commission welcomes the views of interested parties on
the proposals. After considering all comments received, the
Commission intends to seek the Secretary of State's consent
to approve the revised ACoP.
