Consultation Document - Proposals to amend the Notification of Installations Handling Hazardous Substances Regulations 1982
Consultation ended 4 October 2002.
Summary
The Health and Safety Commission has proposed amendments to the Notification
of Installations Handling Hazardous Substances Regulations 1982 (NIHHS).
If agreed the amendments will lower the threshold for notification of Ammonium
Nitrate storage in Great Britain to 150 tonnes. This level is recommended
in the light of an explosion which occurred in Toulouse, France, involving
much smaller amounts of Ammonium Nitrate than must currently be notified.
