A consultation on the methods used by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the Local Authorities to influence workplace health and safety standards.
In February 2004, the Health & Safety Commission (HSC), published our strategy for workplace health and safety in Great Britain to 2010 and beyond. It set out our vision to gain wider recognition of health and safety as a cornerstone of a civilised society and for workplace health and safety that leads the world.
One of the main themes of the strategy is to focus on our core business and the right interventions where we are best placed to reduce workplace injury and ill health.
Two key elements of this theme are development of an "interventions
strategy" - setting out the main techniques that we use as regulators
- and "being clear about our priorities". This consultation presents
our proposals in taking this theme forward and we invite you to comment
on them.
