Falls from vehicles campaign autumn 2007

We’ve been telling you about the Falls from Vehicles campaign for several months now. The campaign started in earnest from 1 October, with adverts in the trade press, targeted mail shots and inspections. Look out too for events being organised by HSE and other organisations supporting the campaign. The aim of these events is to increase standards and awareness amongst all those involved in delivery of materials, including, to construction sites.

HSE has prepared a variety of support resources to help you get involved with the Falls from Vehicles campaign including case studies, information sheets and posters. In addition, a construction specific toolbox talk on Falls from Vehicles has recently been added to HSE’s Construction webpages.  This powerpoint presentation can be tailored to your business needs – please save the presentation to view and use the specially prepared speakers notes.

Falls and trips in construction

“Nearly 1 in 3 construction refurbishment sites inspected put the lives of workers at risk”
said Stephen Williams, HSE Chief Inspector of Construction.

This startling figure comes after HSE carried out over 1500 inspections as part of its rolling programme of inspection, resulting in enforcement action in over 400 cases.

Results of HSE Construction Divisions Falls and Trips initiative 2007 are now available.
