In this issue

F10 notifications

From 2 June 2008 the new interactive electronic F10 form (EForm) is available for use.

HSE has already received some positive feedback on the new EForm -

"I have just used the F10 interactive electronic form to notify a project and found it very easy and quick to use. The address prompts are useful and submission with one press of a button is very convenient. The immediate acknowledgement by the HSE also removes any doubt about receipt."

"What I also like about this version is that you are given a reference number and when you have additional information, such as name of appointed Principal Contractor, you enter this reference number and up comes the initial F10. You can then add the additional information without having to enter up the other information that hasn't changed. You then get confirmation that this new information has been received by the HSE. I like it - Well done HSE."

CONIAC open meeting 23 June 2008

HSE’s Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC) will be holding an open meeting on Monday 23 June 2008 at HSE’s offices in London. Please note, seats are limited in number.

New skin at work web site

Significant numbers of construction workers suffer from work-related skin disorders like dermatitis and skin cancer.

HSE’s ‘Skin at Work’ web site provides essential information on how to prevent skin disorders.  To improve information, navigation and other features on the site, we have changed the design and content of the pages.

There is practical advice for employers and employees on what skin diseases are what causes them and how to prevent them.

For health and safety professionals, there is technical information, links to research and training tools.

New features include:

The new site was launched on 2 June 2008.

Working in hot and cold environments

Now that summer is here (honest – there are no clouds in the sky as I write!) please take care when working outside as you could be exposed to more sun than is healthy for you.

HSE has updated its guidance on how the temperature of your work environment can affect you and how to manage it.

Shattered lives campaign

HSE is continuing its industry wide campaign on slips, trips and falls in the workplace. Lots of new material has been added to the campaign website to help you take action to prevent accidents in the workplace including video case studies, resources and toolbox talks.

HSE mobile phone text message (SMS) alert service

HSE Construction Division is planning to trial a text message (SMS) alert service.  Texts will be sent out when HSE has important news to pass on e.g. industry safety alerts, updated guidance. You will need to subscribe to the service to receive the text alert messages.

We will update you on this service including how to sign up in future editions of Construction Infonet.
