Carriage of dangerous goods
The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004 have been amended by the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment (Amendment) Regulations 2005. Among other things the amendments transfer responsibility for appointment of conformity assessment and inspection bodies for Transportable Pressure Equipment from HSE to the Department for Transport. Lists of standards and appointed bodies will remain in this HSE web site until the Department for Transport has transferred the information to its web site. However enquiries on the appointment of bodies should now be directed to the Department for Transport.
Contact details for the Department of Transport can be found below.

HSE has general responsibility for the enforcement of the Carriage Regulations. It encourages employers and employees to familiarise themselves with their duties under these regulations if they supply, fill, modify or repair TPE, or use them as part of work activities. Most workplaces are the responsibility of the Field Operations Directorate, some fall under the responsibility of the Local Authority, for example offices, shops and hotels.
