Salary The maximum of the pay range for this post is currently £89,074. Successful applicants will be offered a point on the salary scale, appropriate to the level of their experience and skills, within the range £81,330 - £89,074. Aberdeen posts will receive an additional Aberdeen allowance of £13,000 per annum. The role includes travel offshore for which there are additional allowances.

Background

The post holder will be a member of the Offshore Divisions Well Engineering and Operations teams. The role varies enormously in terms of task and pace, ranging from rig site inspections to technical reports to in-depth research into preventative strategies. It offers a challenge of breadth, purpose and professional interest.

About the role

  • Provide specialist advice on health and safety matters associated with your topic of well engineering, drilling and other well operations within HSE, industry and other stakeholders
  • Carry out inspections with respect to specialist issues arising from well engineering, drilling and other well operations activities both offshore and onshore
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and complaints as part of a team or alone, both offshore and onshore
  • Provide technical support for enforcement action, including the provision of expert evidence in legal proceedings
  • Make technical contributions to the development of industry standards and guidance such as being involved in the design of wells

Person requirements

  • Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or earth science discipline
  • A proven track record in managing and contributing to relevant technical projects.
  • Good working knowledge of well engineering & operations
  • You must be able to satisfy the UK offshore medical & survival training requirements
  • You will hold a full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK unless reasonable adjustments can be made in line with the Equality Act 2010.
