Background

The role is the Product Sales and Channel Manager for HSL's diverse product portfolio. As a member of HSL's Sales Team, you will be required to grow the UK and international product sales and product sales channels. In doing this you will work closely with the Product Development team, the Sales and Marketing Team and appropriate Business Unit Heads and Technical Specialists. To be considered for this role you must have a passion for selling products as well as for building channel partner relationships in the UK and internationally. You will be responsible for the HSL Product Sales Funnel and work with the Product Development Team and the Sales and Marketing Team to determine the Product Sales and Marketing Strategy

About the role

HSL has a number of diverse products including software products, specialist analytical reference samples, books and scientific demonstrators. We are also continually developing new products. The successful candidate will need to:

  • generate opportunities for direct product sales through the development of new clients
  • generate opportunities for indirect product sales through the development of new channels
  • achieve HSL product sales targets
  • work with the Products Team, Sales and Marketing Team, Unit Heads and Senior Management Team to develop the commercial products culture across HSL

Person requirements

Relevant experience required:

Essential:

  • Be qualified to at least first degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline

You must be able to demonstrate:-

  • Experience of direct and indirect software product sales
  • A track record of experience building sales channels
  • The ability to be both strategic in approach, yet deliver challenging (in-year) sales targets

Desirable:

  • Experience of non-software product sales
  • A track record of working with technical specialists and product managers.
  • A marketing background and experience in a comparative sector(s).
  • To be able to build and manage a sales funnel achieving specific bid and order targets

You must also be able to:

  • Persuade and influence others
  • Value the contribution of others
  • Adapt quickly and effectively to change

The successful candidate will work under the direction of HSL's External Business Director. The role is likely to require travel and this could necessitate of the order of 2-3 days per week away from the office in Buxton.
