Unseen risks in building management

Free health and safety event, 10 June 2009, The Pavilions, Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate

Harrogate Health & Safety Forum sponsored by HSE is to present a free seminar to local businesses to deal with unseen risks in building management.

Event topics

The event is going to look at three areas of building management, which tend to be poorly managed and aims to give current information on these topics and give help in deciding what action you must take to comply with the necessary legal requirements.

  • The duty to manage asbestos applies to all non-domestic buildings and the common areas of residential rented buildings. If you are responsible for maintenance and repair and are the duty holder, you have a legal duty to manage asbestos.
  • Is there hot and cold-water system within your premises? Are you aware of the potential of legionella within your system? If you are unsure or require further information.
  • Gas safety – this presentation will cover the new Gas Safety regime, typical issues, problems and legal requirements in gas safety.
