Corporate Manslaughter and related issues for Directors
Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5ED: 6.00pm to 8.30pm, 4 November 2008.
The Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007 has caused much anxiety amongst business men and women across the UK since it came into force on 6 April this year. Many are unsure of the potential impact on their businesses and what they need to do to ensure that their organisation complies with the relevant requirements.
IoD, together with the Health and Safety Executive, has issued free guidance on “Leading health and safety at work” for directors, and this event seeks to expand on this guidance and clarify the legislation.
In particular, it will cover:
- why we have corporate manslaughter legislation
- how and when it operates
- how it fits in with current health and safety law
- what directors can do to avoid corporate manslaughter charges
Our speakers include:
- Robin Edwards - Ministry of Justice lead on corporate manslaughter.
- Trevor Allan - HSE’s London External Relations and Communications Manager.
