Information on HSE's role in relation to enquiries on the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD)

HSE is the UK Competent Authority (CA) for biocides and we are able to deal with enquiries that are relevant to our role as the UK CA. We can advise those companies who are supporting active substances through the biocides review programme where the UK is the Rapporteur Member State (RMS) and those companies who have products (or are about to place them) on the UK market.

If you are supporting an active substance through the biocides review programme where the UK is not the RMS then we advise you contact the relevant RMS. Or if you do not have products on the UK market (or are not about to put them on the UK market) and you are based in another EU Member State (MS) we advise you to contact the CA in your MS.
