Authorised/registered biocides

This webpage provides links to databases of biocidal active substances that have been included onto Annex I/IA of the Biocidal Products Directive (BPR) and products that are currently under going evaluation or that have been authorised/registered via HSE.

Authorisations/Certificates granted under the Biocidal Products Regulations (BPR) and the Biocidal Products Regulations (Northern Ireland) (BPR NI).

You will also be able to determine which products you can use by following these definitions:

• Non Professional -  this means that the product can be used by the general public;
• Professional/Industrial this means that the product can only be used by people who are required to use biocides as part of their work and who have received appropriate information, instruction and training.

Biocides Certificate of Exemptions database

This searchable database contains details of the Certificate of Exemptions issued for product authorisation applications currently being evaluated and for products being withdrawn (phased out) from the UK market. Certificates of Exemption may at any time be subject to amendment or revocation.

This database contains the details of the products that have UK authorisations/registrations under the Biocidal Products Regulations (BPR). Authorisation/registration may at any time be subject to amendment or revocation.

Active substances on Annex I/IA of the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD)

Once an active substance has been evaluated by the Rapporteur Member State and other Member States have been consulted, a decision will be made on whether the substance can be accepted for Annex I/IA entry.

A list of the active substances Included onto Annex I/IA of the BPD can found on the EU Commission website.

A copy of the final assessment report for each active substance on Annex I/IA of the BPD can also be found on the EU Commission website.

UK Active Substance Database

This searchable database lists the active substances which have an Annex I/IA Inclusion decision. It presents important dates which now apply to products containing theses active substances, (including those products already approved under the UK Control of Pesticides Regulations (COPR)), and for applying for authorisation in the UK under BPR.
