Simple steps
To help maintain your new health and safety initiative remember to:
- Consult employees
- Report work-related accidents
Step 7: Basic health, safety and welfare needs
Ensure that your workplace is a safe working environment with provision for your employees' welfare, such as, toilets and drinking water, ventilation and cleanliness.
You must provide a safe and healthy environment for all your employees, including people with disabilities. You also need to take account of their welfare needs. For example, you should consider lighting, temperature, toilets, washing facilities and drinking water although this is not an exhaustive list.
These requirements apply to most, but not all, workplaces. If you are not sure about which law applies to you and your business why not call the HSE InfoLine 0845 345 0055.
