Back pain can hurt your bottom line

I don’t know why I took on the job as manager for Bäackpain. There was very little money in the coffers and most of it had been squandered on the rock and roll lifestyle. I guess I was just a really big fan and wanted to see the band back in action.

It all started on the Backbreaker Tour when Kylie and Ben injured their backs and had to cancel the rest of the tour. Not only did they have to refund all of the punters’ tickets but they had to pay the contracted staff their full wages for the rest of the tour. Subsequently all of their upcoming tours were cancelled and sponsors refused to work with them for fear of losing money due to even more cancellations. With no money coming in the band was soon in dire straights. For a while Ben had to resort to busking to pay his bills.

When I joined the crew, the first thing I did was to find out everything I could about back pain. There are many effective options out there, but I chose to go with a cost-effective rehabilitation programme, which involves fast track physiotherapy and active treatment. A physiotherapy service and a fitness instructor with specialist knowledge of musculoskeletal disorders and pilates, was contracted to implement the scheme. All of the band were given time within their practise sessions to access the programme.

Surprisingly the results were rapid and pretty soon everybody was fit to play a full set. We’re still taking things slowly, but we’re working up to our comeback tour later this year. We hope to see you there.
