This consultation ended on 3 March 2009.

HSE ran a three month consultation process on our new strategy and we called on all our partners to take part. The draft strategy identifies goals in the following key areas:

  • the need for strong leadership;
  • building competence;
  • involving the workforce;
  • creating healthier, safer workplaces;
  • customising support for SMEs;
  • avoiding catastrophe; and
  • taking a wider perspective.

What happens next?

HSE has received over 200 responses and these will be considered alongside the comments and ideas from the regional workshops. In the light of this analysis, the HSE Board intends to publish the final version of the Strategy in the early summer.

Seven regional consultation workshops were held in January

The draft strategy also identifies a goal for HSE and Local Authorities in an area of work unique to them - investigation and securing justice.
