| 8 | Health & Safety Policy/Risk Assessment Template (Revisited) [PDF 287KB] Forum members will receive an update on HSE’s work to produce a prototype electronic template that combines the requirements of the health and safety policy statement, written record of arrangements and risk assessment into a single document. The aim is to eliminate duplication and save businesses time and expense, whilst building confidence and encouraging compliance. This was shown to members at the January 2009 meeting and has since been revised to take into account the feedback received. The project team will provide the Forum with an overview of the changes and invite comments as to the template’s suitability for an SME audience. | 9 | Health & Safety Leadership for Small Businesses [PDF 2.1MB] HSE is continuing work to promote the importance of health and safety leadership in the workplace. Building on initiatives such as the Directors’ Guidance, HSE is keen to explore what more could be done to help SMEs develop strong health and safety leadership. Forum members will be consulted on this, as well as how work could be extended to focus on small business needs and the possible roles for HSE and Trade Associations.Lynsey Brooks will speak to the Forum about the draft FSB Leadership Guidance for small businesses, which is intended to complement the existing HSE/IoD guidance for directors. Members will be given an overview of her work on the guidance and efforts to ensure that it meets the needs of small and micro businesses. | John Lack, (Communications Directorate) will provide an overview of the project to produce a revised version of the Health & Safety Law Poster. This will include an update on the accompanying regulatory amendments to come into effect on 6 April 2009. Members will also be provided with details of the discount HSE will be offering to them on bulk purchases of the new poster.
