4 ‘COSHH: A Brief Guide to Regulations’
HSE is rewriting the guidance leaflet ‘COSHH: A Brief Guide to Regulations’ in a clearer, less ‘regulation-driven’ format.  Andrew Garrod is responsible for redrafting the guidance.  He will present the current draft version of the leaflet to the Forum and welcomes members’ views about its effectiveness and suitability from a small business perspective.

5 Directors’ Duties: Health and Safety Leadership from the SME Perspective
Ian Dormer, of IoD, will provide SBTAF members with an insight into his experiences of health and safety as a director of an SME and his view of the benefits of SBTAF, along with an update on the work of the IoD Oversight Group in promoting health and safety leadership among company directors.

6 Example Risk Assessments – Communications
Tony Bandle and Anne Strype will provide an update on the Example Risk Assessment Project and ask for members’ views as to how to effectively promote and communicate these to SMEs.  Members will then be asked to advise on how they could assist with this aspect of the project.

7 HABIA: A Case Study in Communications
Wendy Nixon, of the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), will give a talk on how this Trade Association tackles the problems of communicating health and safety information to their (mainly) SME membership.  This will include a summary of recent HABIA initiatives and will close with a discussion between Forum members regarding the problems they face when communicating with their membership and any ideas they have to tackle them.
