The Workforce Involvement Group (WIG) Visit Transocean Prospect Drilling Rig, Invergordon – 18 April 2012

Several members of the WIG took up the invitation offered by one its members, Mark Milne, to visit and tour the Transocean Drilling Rig, Prospect, whilst it was in Invergordon under going a massive refurbishment.

Firstly, the WIG members would like to pass on a huge thanks to Mark for arranging the day and Sandy Coutts, the Prospect OIM, and his crew, for their hospitality and patience during the visit. It was an extremely busy spell for them all, but they still managed to find the time to give the WIG members a thorough tour of the rig and inform them of how the refurbishments would improve everyday life on the rig, including the workforce accommodation.

Sandy along with his some of his colleagues also explained the workings of the drilling rig and shared some of the ‘best practices’ they have in place on Prospect with regards workforce involvement and health and safety in the workplace. WIG members were also taken through the rig’s emergency procedures and what was involved.

Overall the day was superb, and the group left with lots of ideas for developing workforce involvement further. To our host once again ….THANK YOU
