On the 16th of September 2010, 15 members of the Norwegian Safety Forum met with representatives of the Workforce Involvement Group (WIG) and Step Change colleagues in Aberdeen to discuss matters of mutual interest in the area of workforce involvement.
The Safety Forum is a tri-partite body representing the Regulator, Unions and Employers in the Norwegian Sector, with a record of delivering with respect to driving forward improvements in H&S.
Said WIG Chair, Fraser Easton, 'I was delighted to be able to host this meeting, as there is always value in exchanging experiences and learning lessons from others'. Fellow WIG members Jake Molloy (RMT), John Taylor (UNITE), Les Larchet (Centrica) and Alistair McGilvray were equally enthusiastic about the success of the day.
Magne Ognedal, who led the Norwegian delegation perhaps summed the day up when he said: 'the meeting confirmed the importance of effective workforce involvement and the common challenges facing the industry across national boundaries'.
All parties agreed to establish ongoing contact to share lessons in the future.
