Launched on 5th September to almost 250 people, the Step Change in Safety Workforce Engagement Toolkit supports oil and gas companies in their efforts to measure and improve their levels of workforce engagement at specific work sites. After almost 3 years of development, through listening directly to the workforce at levels there is clear evidence that work sites with fully engaged staff tend to have better safety records, fewer accidents and better overall business performance.
The toolkit contains practical guidance as well as a unique survey tool which can be taken online or on paper by all personnel on the site, regardless of their employer. The questions encourage the participant to think about a number of factors including how visible they think leaders are, how much they feel they are encouraged to participate in safety and how well they think leaders communicate and act to address safety issues.
All input gathered is totally confidential. Data is submitted directly to Step Change and a summary report is issued back to the worksite to help site leaders identify areas for improvement.
