Nicky Elphinstone (ESS Safety Representative & member of the Workforce Involvement Group (WIG)), accepted the invitation by CNR to visit the Tiffany platform.
It was a great opportunity to see first hand some of the excellent examples of workforce involvement, with the behavioural safety program standing out as an outstanding piece of workforce driven safety. There was also an impressive presentation from OIM Austin Grant focusing on achieving safety excellence.
Nicky gave a presentation to the platform on WIG and the SI971 inspection program. This was well received by those in attendance and stirred a healthy discussion on the way forward.
Later in the evening, Nicky had an opportunity to meet with fellow safety reps, where he gave a presentation on the further additional training for safety reps and the proposals the workforce involvement group have put forward. This again was followed by some great comments and discussion.
This was a very fruitful visit with both parties taking some valuable lessons away from the time spent together.
Nicky would personally like to thank CNR and the staff of the Tiffany platform for facilitating this visit.
