OIAC – Helicopter Liaison Group (HLG)
The Helicopter Liaison Group (HLG) is a sub-committee of OIAC. Its role is to act as a liaison forum to advise OIAC on safety policy matters associated with those aspects of the provision and operation of helicopter facilities at offshore installations, which are subject to the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, and, in relation to that, to assist OIAC by:
- Monitoring progress in improving safety; and
- Encouraging the joint participation of representative organisations in actions to improve safety.
Note: The Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (Application Outside Great Britain) Order 2001 specifically excludes aircraft which are airborne. These are subject to regulations for air transport enforced by the Civil Aviation Authority.
HLG includes members representing offshore employers and employees as well as the Civil Aviation Authority and the Helideck Certification Agency (HCA).
