Quarries National Joint Advisory Committee (QNJAC):
Training for employee representatives

The QNJAC has developed its own training course for worker representatives, launched in 2001, the content of which was agreed as the necessary minimum training for an employee to be able to function effectively as a committee member under Regulation 40 of the Quarries Regulations 1999. Other industry sectors have looked to this course as an example of good practice. Effective involvement of the workforce is a key requirement under the Quarries Regulations, but more importantly it is also fundamental to the success of all other interventions on health and safety.
