The Committee:

  1. noted the membership and constitution of the Mining Industry Committee together with the status and role of committee sub-groups
  2. reviewed progress with the legislative renewal programme
  3. noted trends in accidents and ill health in the coal mining industry
  4. considered the relocation of the Ashby Mines Rescue Station to Rawdon
  5. reviewed the situation in respect of HSE Approval of mining equipment and specifications
  6. received updates from the Fire Detection WG and the Support WG and reviewed the Falls of Ground Annual Report
  7. noted the dates of future meetings for 2004.
