The Committee:

  1. welcomed Mr Bill Callaghan, chair of HSC to the meeting;
  2. noted progress on the review of legislative packages, in particular the development of a 3 year programme;
  3. noted Mines Rescue Service staffing levels and service
  4. noted the trends in accidents and ill health in the coal mining industry;
  5. considered the research work carried out in assessment of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome;
  6. received a presentation on "Securing Health Together"
  7. noted future meetings would be held on:-
