HSE - Chemical and Downstream Oil Industries Forum (CDOIF)
The Chemical and Downstream Oil Industries Forum (previously Chemical Industries Forum) was set up in 1997 with representation from the following industry sectors: chemical production, paints and coatings production, health product manufacture, compressed gas production, oil refining and associated industries, storage and road transport of chemicals.
CDOIF’s Terms of Reference are:
- To consider and advise the Health and Safety Executive on:
- the protection of people at work from hazards to health and safety arising from their occupation within the chemical industry,
- the protection of the public from related hazards arising from such activities, and
- other associated matters referred to the Forum by the Health and Safety Executive.
- To encourage the joint participation of representative organisations in the protection of people from hazards to health and safety from work activities in the chemical industry.
- To provide advice and guidance to industry in whatever form best fits the purpose and to develop a strategy for improving standards to health and safety in the industry.
- Where appropriate, to act as a stimulus for the identification and meeting of the health and safety research needs of the industry.
