The local authorities will take the regulatory lead for all sporting and entertainment events taking place during Games time, which begins with the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on 27 July and runs until the Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony on 9 September 2012. No proactive HSE interventions are planned during the Games.
HSE will be supporting our regulatory partners during this period, guided by the joint Intervention Strategy. The strategy is based on early, targeted and proportionate intervention to ensure that risks are managed and that a safe and secure Games is enjoyed by all.
To assist with the risk profiling for Games time, HSE has conducted a literature review on health and safety risks associated with major sporting events. To read the report visit Research reports.
