David Snowball

Before becoming Acting Chief Executive in June 2018, Dr David Snowball was Director of Regulation from April 2016, where he was responsible for ensuring that HSE regulatory practice was modern, effective and relevant. Prior to this, he was appointed Director of Field Operations in May 2014.

He was responsible for staff in FOD who regulate a wide range of employment sectors covering a significant proportion of the GB economy including construction, agriculture, general manufacturing, engineering, food and drink, quarries, entertainment, education, health services, local and central government and domestic gas safety.

Previously, he was Divisional Director for Scotland and Northern England. He joined HSE as a factory inspector in 1984 and has worked for HSE in Cardiff, Hull, Sheffield, London, Leeds, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
