Dr Richard Judge joined the Health and Safety Executive as Chief Executive in November 2014.
Richard joined the HSE from the Insolvency Service, where he was Inspector General and Chief Executive. This government agency provides a range of public services that deal with the impacts on individuals and businesses of insolvency. It also ensures the continuing integrity of Britain’s highly regarded insolvency regime through a range of regulatory, investigation and enforcement activities. Prior to this, he was Chief Executive of Cefas (Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science), which he joined in 2007. Cefas is the government’s foremost source of evidence and expert advice relating to the marine environment. His earlier career spans the public and private sector in the UK and internationally, in the nuclear, rail and environmental markets.
Richard is qualified as a Chartered Director and has a professional background as a Chartered Engineer.
