Alex Brett-Holt
Alex Brett-Holt has been Legal Adviser to the Health and Safety Executive since 2004 and leads the Legal Team within HSE. A barrister, since joining the Government Legal Service she has worked for the Department of the Environment, the Department of Health and the Department of Trade and Industry.
Posts at DTI included responsibility for legal aspects of utilities - including coal, gas, electricity and nuclear, electronic communications and telecommunications - competition law; consumer law; intellectual property law; employment and discrimination law. She led the team which prepared and piloted the Civil Partnerships Bill through Parliament.
Alex is a member of the Executive Group which provides strategic direction for the 2000+ lawyers in the Government Legal Service and the co-ordinator for the small and regulatory legal teams within the GLS.
