HSE's job is to help the Health and Safety Commission ensure that risks to people's health and safety from work activities are properly controlled.
From 2 April 2008 HSE will became the single national regulatory body responsible for promoting the cause of better health and safety at work.
The aim is to develop a new 'About Us' website for HSE. The pre-April HSC and HSE websites are still available for now.
Staff from a range of different backgrounds - including administrators, lawyers, inspectors, scientists, engineers, technologists and medical professionals - contribute to this aim.
On this part of the site, you can find out more about HSE, the people involved, how we are organised, our plans and annual reports and our current position on important issues (openness, enforcement etc.).
