More about HSE's role during Games time

Local authorities are the lead health and safety regulators for all Games-related activity during the competition events. HSE will support Local Authorities in adopting a proportionate approach to regulation of the Games in line with the National Local Authority Enforcement Code.

Where HSE is the enforcing authority for a work activity, we will seek primarily to influence through early intervention with duty-holders rather than proactive site inspection – this is in keeping with UK Government policy.  HSE will not conduct proactive inspections at Commonwealth venues and sites during the Games.

We will also be ready to respond in the event of a work-related incident or emergency affecting the smooth running of the Games.
