Dear Sir
Your piece (Sunday Mirror, 12 August 2007, page 29) criticizes an HSE study of behaviour at fairgrounds.
This study was conducted after 5 fatal accidents at fairgrounds in one year. A review of fairground safety showed that HSE needed more information about risks that ride passengers were taking. The results provide important information about human behaviour on rides. This will help industry design and operate rides more safely and supports HSE advice and enforcement. Fairground industry associations fully supported the project, as I expect would those of your readers who want their loved ones to enjoy the excitement of a fairground and walk away from it safe.
Yours faithfully
