Health and Safety Executive on stand 5 in national painting and decorating show

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is exhibiting in the National Painting and Decoration Show at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on 27th and 28th November in an effort to reduce the number of accidents and instance of ill-health in construction and refurbishment industries.

Employers have a legal duty to look after the safety of their employees and members of the public who might be affected by the work they are carrying out. Often, the precautions they need to take are basic, straightforward health and safety practices. The HSE is eager to impart information to assist companies and individuals to comply with ‘Health and Safety at Work’ and ‘Working at Height’ requirements by advising those in the business on good practice and safety procedures.

Jan Foers, HSE Awareness Officer, said:

“The National Painting and Decorating Show gives the trade an opportunity to find out first hand about the latest developments in improving health and safety.

“Some of the subjects that we cover at the show include working at height, falls, musculoskeletal disorders from manual handling, breathing problems, skin conditions, hearing problems, slips and trips as these are some of the risks associated with the painting and decorating industry. HSE can give guidance to those in the trade who attend the free-entry show or alternatively, access the HSE website: www.hse.gov.uk/
